As a BCBS member, your preventive care coverage also includes breastfeeding support, supplies, and counseling at no cost when you use in-network providers. Review your plan documents to learn more about this benefit and other no-cost preventive care services available to you.

The BCBS Special Beginnings maternity program helps give your baby a healthy start. This free, confidential program supports you from early pregnancy until six weeks after delivery if you’re enrolled in a BCBS plan.

An experienced BCBS staff member will contact you and:

  • Ask questions to determine what support you will need and help you plan your care with your doctor
  • Send you information, including a book about having a healthy pregnancy and baby
  • Assist you with managing high-risk conditions such as gestational diabetes and preeclampsia

Visit the Special Beginnings website for videos and week-by-week pregnancy information. To access the site, log in to Blue Access for Members (BAM) by visiting www.bcbstx.com and click on the “My Health” tab. You can also call (888) 421-7781 to enroll in or ask questions about the program.

BCBS’s Well onTarget digital self-management programs help support your wellness goals. The Nurturing Your Healthy Pregnancy program includes five courses in one:

  1. Pre-pregnancy
  2. First Trimester
  3. Second Trimester
  4. Third Trimester
  5. Post Pregnancy

This series of courses is designed for women who are pregnant or thinking about becoming pregnant. The content promotes maternal and child health from pre-conception to post-delivery. Courses are interactive and educational—allowing you to study on your own time. You can also earn 1,000 Blue Points each quarter when you complete a program. Points can be redeemed in the BCBS online shopping mall for merchandise.

To access this digital pregnancy program, log in to the Well onTarget Member Wellness Portal at www.wellontarget.com. You can also use the mobile app, AlwaysOn, to register for a digital self-management program.

Health issues can happen 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Experienced BCBS nurses are available 24/7 to answer your health questions and try to help you decide whether you should go to the emergency room, urgent care center, or make an appointment with your pediatrician. Call the BCBS 24/7 Nurseline on the back of your ID card anytime, day or night.

Your alliantgroup STD benefit coverage, through Principal, provides you income security while you recover from giving birth. The STD plan provides 60% of your weekly salary, to a maximum of $1,500 for up to 12 weeks of disability (after a 7-day waiting period).
